Helpful Tips and Information

Here are some helpful tips for saving data:

  • On our RBI plans, you can add off-peak data boosters which can give you access to unlimited data between the hours of midnight and midday. You can utilise this period to download Netflix and other entertainment content ready for viewing during peak periods. This period can also be used for software upgrades.
  • All visits to the Farmside website and the MyFarmside portal are zero-rated. It means that all visits to these websites don’t count towards your data cap.
  • We have zero-rated partnerships with BNZ, Westpac, Figured and MYOB. All visits to their websites for your banking and accounting needs don’t count towards your data cap as well.
  • Learn how you can control how much data Netflix uses through the helpful tips here.
  • Keep an eye on your usage allowance. Check on your My Farmside portal daily.
  • Close down apps on your phone when it’s connected to the Wi-Fi so they don’t keep using data in the background.
  • Turn off automatic software updates on your mobile phone.
  • Restrict iTunes and App Store downloads.
  • Review all electronic devices that are connected via Wi-Fi or connected to your Rural Broadband device.
  • PlayStation and Xbox game updates consume a lot of data so turn off automatic updates.
  • Video content does too, so download overnight taking advantage of your new unlimited data times, then reduce the format to SD (standard definition). This includes YouTube, Netflix and Vodafone TV.
  • Listen to downloaded music rather than streaming on Spotify and Apple Music.
  • Change Wi-Fi passwords to protect your usage.
