Satellite delivered high-speed broadband can be installed quickly to any area in New Zealand (including the Chatham Islands), regardless of how remote the location. Farmside recently installed a satellite broadband connection to the most northern house in New Zealand, and regularly work with Land Search and Rescue and the New Zealand Army to assist their communications when operating in remote rugged environments.
Farmside would be able to install satellite delivered high-speed broadband connections to 200 rural schools within a matter of months, allowing the schools to take advantage of the high-speed broadband almost immediately.
“Rural schools must have access to high-speed broadband now to help achieve the same educational objectives as urban children. Farmside acknowledges fibre as an aspiration goal for rural communities, but it may take some years to install. We can meet the RBI 10mbps/5mbps speed requirements right now for rural schools at a fraction of the RBI budget. Why make them wait any longer?” says Tony Baird, Farmside’s CEO.
