Prime Minister John Key Tests the Connection

On 29 April 2010, the Prime Minister John Key used Farmside’s satellite technology to connect to Haast Primary School for a video conference.  The children spent 30 minutes talking with John Key.  They were amazed at how they could talk with him and see him when he was sitting in Wellington and they were in Haast!

The children took the opportunity to ask John Key questions such as what it is like to be the Prime Minister, what is the name of his cat and did he have a private jet.  They also reiterated to him how much they are benefiting from having a high-speed broadband connection at their school.

Haast Primary School had the video conferencing equipment installed as part of the trial – a capability they would never have been able to utilise without a high-speed broadband link.
